Since 1987 the five yellow members of the Simpsons have become the most recognized family in the world. Its popularity is fostered a lucrative marketing campaign, and before long the Simpsons were in every facet of entertainment. It was only natural that they would spawn a series of video games. Unfortunately they are terrible on average, but with the movie on the horizon we decided to explore the best of the best.

5) Bart’s House of Weirdness - PC

Never tried this game? Well we can’t say that we blame you. Even by a hardcore collectors standards this is a hard game to come by. The manual has Dr.Marvin Monroe claiming that the game has deep sociological properties: “The elements found in this game are, in most cases, a social commentary of the state of our culture as seen through the eyes of a child of the Nuclear Age”. That may be a stretch, but when fighting Mr.Burns as a boss character and seeing Smithers grovel over him I did learn what the concept of homosexuality was at an early age.

4) Bart and the Beanstalk - Game Boy

There seemed to be a slight prejudice towards centering Simpsons games around Bart. I mean he’s practically in the title of every Simpsons game. However, it makes sense considering how video games were at one time marketed to adolescent males, and boy how things have changed since then. Along with the Sega Genesis, the Game Boy saw the greatest number of Simpsons titles released ; which were on average pieces of complete shit. Oddly enough the game that had the least to do with the tv show turned out to be the best platformer in the series.

3) Bart Vs. The Space Mutants - NES / PC / Game Boy / Genesis / Commodore 64 / Amiga / ZX Spectrum / Amstrad / SMS / Game Gear / Atari ST

Bart Vs. The Space Mutants was the original Simpsons video game, and by far the most widespread ( what the fuck is an Amstrad? ). The game wasn’t very well received by fans because it had little to do with the plot of the actual show, and was incredibly difficult. It still established the series into the digital world, and was a relatively fun title on the NES. Yet to this day I never understood how spray painting people and objects some how defeated space aliens. Are we to believe that they’re part of an intergalactic rival gang that a child can outwit?

2) Hit and Run! - Gamecube / PS2 / Xbox / PC

Any Grand Theft Auto clone will produce decent results, and Hit and Run is no exception. It featured similar gameplay to Simpsons: Road Rage, where the primary task is to drive around Springfield to accomplish various goals. Since developers seem to have creative difficulty in inventing villains, Kang and Kodos once again take their positions as the final bosses. Adapting a game from a series that has spanned over eighteen years, featuring hundreds of antagonists, and game creators seem to think these two green blobs are the most threatening things since Hitler.

1) The Simpsons Arcade Game - Arcade / PC

In 1991 The Simpsons Arcade Game was released to give humanity an unprecedented leap in happiness. Konami borrowed the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game engine, after recognizing that they had already achieved perfection a few years prior. This game is also historically significant by being the first arcade machine I ever beat from beginning to end in a single play; costing me 13.50$ ( that’s 54 lives, dying nearly seven times a level ). After spending a child's fortune, I was certain that I would be rewarded for my efforts, and that some supreme secret of the Simpsons universe would now be bestowed on me. Instead, after watching the cast walk into the distance, the game jumped back to the first level only to be played all over again.

Behold, the PSP 3000 that is to be launched in the 4th Quart of 2008: October 16th. It is scheduled to be launched in Australia, Middle East, Europe, etc etc, but not in Asia (maybe not that soon).
Thinking about it, it’s enhanced with a built-in mic, and a better screen quality that is supposed to be harder to scratch, and can deflect those pesky irrititating times when you play your PSP on the bus that turns toward the sunlight because the new 3000 can display a larger amount of colors.
SONY has declared that they would be releasing the PSP 3000 as a bundle with their partners, and the product will be bundled with Harry Potter, FIFA, Go!Messenger, Skype, and the usual (perhaps with other games).
Apart from all the new hardware stuff (including the new PSP button that you would have notice if you’ve watched the video closely enough), SONY has also declared that the new PSP is harder to hack.

9 Steps to Use M3 Real

1.Know that if you order this product by mail, it is likely that you did not receive an installation CD, which is very useful. This guide is mainly for those who do not have this CD.

2.Gather all of the components. There should be a card reader with a USB key on the end. Put the Micro SD card in the reader. Be careful not to break it! Turn on your computer, then stick the card reader containing the card into the USB port.

3.Notice the menu that appears. Scroll down to find the button that reads "Open to View Files." The details of the Micro SD card will be displayed. Use the "Up One Level" button in the window. This should take you to "My Computer."

4.Discover that there is something called an e:// drive that is not normally there. Rename this "M3 REAL" and go back into it. Create a folder called NDS (save this for later).

5.Search Google for "M3 real system files", and find a website that gives system files 3.0 or above. (Note: On the actual M3 website the system files are wrong!)

6.Download the system files and save them to the M3 Real card, but be sure not to save them in the NDS folder. Then, use an extraction program to unzip the files.
If you can't do that, don't worry! Go into the zipped folder and copy all of the files and folders. Create a standard folder called "system2" and put them in there. Then, go back, delete the zipped folder, and rename the folder from "system2" to "System". Be sure to get this right, or it will not work!

7.Notice that the box it says "Built in PDA", but you will find it is not. Go back to the web and find M3 Real PDA files and save them to the M3 Real card. Then unzip or copy and paste the files into a standard folder. The M3 Real cannot read zipped folders.

8.Return to the NDS folder and create sub-folders (such as MUSIC, PICTURES, etc.). Place your files (e.g., MP3s) into the corresponding folder.

9.Go back and try again if it didn't work.

The NY Times's Olympic blog has an interesting post about the difficulty of translating the Chinese cheers heard at Beijing venues into other languages. As the post explains, a literal translation of a popular cheer to English means something about gasoline.

One of the most perplexing language issues at the Olympic games is how to translate the all-purpose Chinese cheer, “加油! ” (jiayou!), into English (or any other language).

加 means to “add.” 油 means “oil” or “fuel.” (And technically gas stations are often called 加油站, or jiayou stops). But it’s almost never chanted in the context of a gas station. Instead, you’ll hear it often chanted at these Olympic games when the audience wants the competitors to dig deep and put in an extra effort. Here is a YouTube video explaining how to chant 加油 to go with the official Olympic civilized chant hand gestures).

But around the Web you can find a variety of struggles as the Chinese try to translate this all-purpose cheer into English. (On some chat boards it even makes it into the category of most frequently asked translations.)

Why My R4 Can’t Work on DS Lite?

Three possible reasons:

1. Bad DS Lite

2. Bad microSD card

3. Bad R4 Cartridge

To eliminate number one. Try the working R4 cartridge in both DS Lites. If it works fine in both, then the problem is not the DS Lite. If the working R4 only works in one DS Lite, then it could be a bad DS Lite.

If you find you have two good working DS LItes, time to check the MicroSD card. Using the same DS Lite and the working R4 cartridge, try both microSD cards in the working R4 cartridge. If both microSD cards work, then the problem lies with the other R4 cartridge and you should get it replaced. If only one of the microSD cards work, then the problem lies with the microSD card. You can try reformatting it. If that does not solve the problem, please replace the microSD card with a new one. Brands do make a difference and the Kingston brand is reputed to be the best and most reliable.

How to Handle Fequent Feezing on DSTT?

DSTT slot 1 card is very temperamental and causes frequent freezing of the Nintendo DS.

To use the card initially, format the micro SD card. FAT 16 is a more stable formatting option than FAT 32. (Formatting to FAT 16: Double click on the “my computer” icon. Right click on the micro SD card drive and select “format”. Under file system, select “FAT”. )

When the card is formatted, copy the system files on to the card. These consist of

1). A folder called TTMenu

2). A system file called TTMENU

3). A Video CD Movie called TTMENU

These 3 items should be copied on to the root menu of the card.

Now copy on to the card any games you wish to play. The games are usually stored in a folder giving the name of the game. This folder contains a file called xxxxxx.nds depending on the game. Copy the whole game folder on to the root menu and not individual files.

Place the micro SD card into the DSTT card and insert into slot 1. When you switch the NDS on, you should have a list of games. DO NOT START PLAYING ANY GAMES YET!!!

Select “SysOption” at the top left hand corner of the screen. Make sure Default reset is set to “On”. Exit “SysOption” by pressing “back”.

You can now play your games now.

Up until now, the Nintendo crowd has been shunned out of the Guitar Hero phenomenon. Sony owners got to rock out on the PlayStation 2. Microsoft fans got to rock harder on the Xbox 360. The Nintendo shunning will soon be no more, because here, my friends, is the official Guitar Hero controller for the Nintendo Wii.

By and large, it is identical to its Sony and MS-geared counterparts, but with one notable difference. There is a definite slot in the body where you can slide in a Wii Remote, apparently so that it can detect when you're really getting into it and thrashing all about. The solid white faceplate is also fully removable.

Guitar Hero for the Wii will likely cost about $90 US, including the price of the Guitar controller. I'm stoked.

We already mentioned the PSP2000 launch date and details, in case you don’t remember there were only 3 colors announced - black, white and silver.

But since the PlayStation Portable has its roots in Japan (thanks to Sony), the people that are playing at home must have some kind of advantage. With that being said, the PSP2 in Japan will be released with 3 extra colors: Rose Pink, Lavender Purple and Felicia Blue.

Unlike what happens with the silver and white PSP’s that come with a movie and cartoon series on the UMD card, I don’t think the new colors will have this extra feature.

Recently,many friends say this "I just got my r4 in the mail so i opend it and guess what no cd and i cant work it without a cd or can i plzz help thanks".

Don't freak, my friend.No cd for cards right now.It is because the cards manufacture(the place that actually makes the cards) stopped putting the CDs in the box because of the kernel updates. It's just easier on everyones part to just get it off of the website.

Just go to these offical link and download the newest kernel 1.18 then just move every file from inside the folder that says english and put them on the root of your card.

1. You may need to format your Micro SD card/TF card (Fat 16 )

2. Once this has completed you will have an empty micro sd card and ready to put on the system files required. (you can download the system files or we call it kernel drag to Micro SD card/TF card).

3. Check if your Micro SD card/TF card has enough rom for your game files when the game can't be loaded. Clean up your .nds files at the same root of one folder named "games". If it's completely full, the flashcard won't be able to create the .sav files and it won't work. If your micro SD is too full, try to delete a couple of your games.

4. Pull your Micro SD card/TF card out to check if your nds can find any card. Showing "no card?" or "no menue?", you can learn that nothing wrong with your flashcard. You can check if your Micro SD card/TF card is defective.

5. Update flashcard 'kernel files when you can not play some new games. Or try more different versions of firmware.

1. Extra controllers

Like all recent consoles, the Wii ships with just a single controller ( well, one two-part controller: one Wiimote, plus one nunchuk). But the real fun of the system is playing the head-to-head Wii Sports games such as tennis and boxing. To do so, you'll need at least one extra set of controllers--that's one Wiimote plus one nunchuk. The Wii supports as many as four, but just the one extra controller set should suffice--at least for Christmas morning.

2. Rechargeable batteries

The Wiimote takes two standard AA batteries. They're included--with the Wii, and with the sold-separately version of the controller mentioned above--but avid players may find the juice draining pretty quickly, especially if they keep the nunchuk attached (it draws its power from the Wiimote). Instead of buying an endless stream of costly AAs, consider investing in a set of rechargeables.

3. GameCube controllers

The Wii is fully backwards compatible with the Nintendo GameCube, but there's a catch: to play the GameCube games, you'll need a GameCube controller. You can even go wireless with the Nintendo WaveBird. If you already have a GameCube, your existing controllers will work just fine--just plug them into one of the four ports underneath the flip-up panel on the Wii's topside. GameCube controllers should also work with the Wii's "Virtual Console" games--which saves you the trouble of having to buy a Classic Controller.

4. GameCube memory cards

One other annoyance when playing GameCube games: your progress can be saved only to GameCube memory cards, not to the Wii's internal memory or to an SD card (we're hoping Nintendo fixes this with a future firmware update). Like the controllers, your old GC cards will work just fine--there are two slots right next to the GameCube controller ports. If you don't have any on hand (and you want to save your games on GC titles), you'll need to spring for a memory card.

5. Wii Points

One of the big attactions of the Wii is its Virtual Console, which lets you purchase classic games that originally came from the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), the Super NES, the Nintendo 64, the Sega Genesis, and the TurboGrafx16. By the end of 2006, at least 30 titles should be available, including Donkey Kong (NES), Super Mario 64 (N64), and Sonic the Hedgehog (Genesis). To purchase the downloadable titles, you'll need to use a Nintendo currency known as Wii Points (similar to the Microsoft Points on Xbox Live), which currently have an exchange rate of 100 points per U.S. dollar. You can buy Wii Points directly through the console's online store, or use prepaid cards available in various denominations.

6. SD card

If you're close to filling the Wii's built-in 512MB of storage with your Virtual Console games, you can always expand your available space with an SD card. Nintendo sells its own, but any run-of-the-mill card will do. Fairly spacious 1GB cards are available--even less with mail-in rebates--and they'll work in plenty of other gadgets as well.

7. Wireless access point

In addition to the downloadable Virtual Console games, the Wii offers online "channels," including news, weather, and even an Opera Web browser (head-to-head online gaming is said to be coming sometime in 2007). You can get online for free via the Wii's built-in Wi-Fi. To do so, of course, you'll need a nearby wireless access point or router. Alternately, you can plug the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector (shown at right) into any nearby PC on a wired network, and the Wii--plus your Nintendo DS--will be able to use it to get online instead.

8. Component video adapter

The Wii doesn't have the graphical horsepower to handle high-def graphics, but it can do DVD-level 480p video, which will look considerably better on large HDTVs. To see the Wii's games in 480p, you'll need Nintendo's proprietary component video adapter.
